Derbyshire children and youth charity opens new OUTLET by Lighthouse store in Matlock

The Lighthouse Charity Shops raise vital funds to support the wider work of Valley CiDS with children, young people and families across Derbyshire

Derbyshire-based Valley CiDS, a charity supporting children, young people and families across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, has officially opened its new OUTLET by Lighthouse in Matlock, adding to its existing presence in the town.

The outlet was officially opened by the Mayor of Matlock, Ashley Orwin, and County Councillor Sue Burfoot, who helped cut the ribbon. Joining them were pupils from St Joseph’s Catholic Academy, who took part in the celebrations.

OUTLET by Lighthouse offers a different shopping experience, specialising in pre-loved ladies' clothing, with every item priced at just £2. Shoppers can discover a selection of clothing and put together a whole outfit for less than £10, giving donated fashion a new lease of life.

The new outlet is part of Valley CiDS ongoing commitment to sustainability. By giving more donated clothing the opportunity to find a new home, OUTLET by Lighthouse helps keep clothes in circulation for longer, reduce waste and encourage more sustainable shopping choices. It is all part of a circular rescue mission, making the most of pre-loved fashion and helping to reduce its impact on the environment.

Valley CiDS is already well established in Matlock, with an existing Lighthouse Charity Shop in the town and its Blend Youth Project working with local young people. The charity provides youth activities and support, as well as working with a number of local schools.

The Lighthouse Charity Shops also raise vital funds to support the wider work of Valley CiDS with children, young people and families across Derbyshire. This includes work in schools, out-of-school clubs, youth and community services, and alternative education provision for young people who have disengaged with learning or are struggling to access mainstream education.

New volunteers are always needed across the Lighthouse Charity Shops, and anyone who is interested in helping is welcome to call in to find out more.
