Mercatum 2026 will run for six weeks and promises to be the most magical yet - with more than 300 selected artisans and makers offering everything from handmade ceramics, jewellery and textiles, to fine foods, perfume, candles, prints and paintings.

Named one of the best Christmas markets in the national press last year, Mercatum will once again fill the ancient rooms and gardens of one of England’s most beloved historic houses. The hall will be adorned with Christmas decorations created by an award-winning production design team.

Lady Edward Manners, chateliane of Haddon Hall, said: “We are delighted that Mercatum has found such a special place in the hearts of our visitors, both in the local community and further afield. Being named one of the UK’s top ten Christmas markets last year was such a wonderful accolade for the event and the team. We take huge pride in the quality of the artisans selected and the Christmas joy the market brings to our visitors. With the Hall looking more festive than ever before, and with so much to discover, we look forward to welcoming guest to experience the magic of Mercatum at Haddon.”

Visitors can wander through Haddon’s perfectly-preserved medieval and Elizabethan rooms, dressed for the season with greenery from the estate, candlelight and richly decorated trees. Outside, the Lower Courtyard will transform into a twinkling village, with cosy wooden chalets selling one-of-a-kind gifts and live musicians helping keep the atmosphere warm when the winter evenings get chilly.

In the dedicated food and drink areas in the medieval kitchens and gardens, visitors can find artisan producers offering warming treats and delicious delicacies to take home or enjoy on the day — from delicious cakes and pastries and locally-produced cheeses to hand-crafted chocolates and artisanal beers and spirits.
