Emergency services reveal cause of Derbyshire house fire - which saw flames rip through the roof

A joint police and fire investigation into the house fire in Duffield has concluded the most likely cause to be deliberate.

Firefighters from Nottingham Road, Kingsway, Belper, Ascot Drive, and Ashbourne, supported by a crew from Derbyshire Constabulary, attended the scene following a call just after 11 am on Friday, June 7.

Upon arrival crews discovered a well-established house fire. Firefighters wearing apparatus used hose reel jets, an aerial ladder platform, and a water carrier to extinguish the fire. A welfare unit was also on hand to support crews involved.

A considerable amount of smoke could be seen in the area and residents were urged to keep doors and windows closed.

Final fire crews left the scene at 5pm the following evening (Saturday, June 8). No one was in the building at the time of the fire.

Police have issued an appeal for anyone who can help with further investigation to come forward.
