A Shetland pony decided to take a dip in a river only to be in over her head and need rescuing.

Crews from Chesterfield Water Rescue and Matlock animal rescue were called out to rescue the animal after it became trapped this morning, Monday, June 20.

A spokesman for Derbsyhire Fire and Rescue said: “She was helped out of the river and up a steep bank to a wooded area where she was met with her owner who seemed happy she was in good health.”
